Fugro N.V.
Who Fugro is an independent group with over 200 offices in more than 45 countries, about 5,500 staff and an annual turnover of around Dfl. 1.2 billion. Fugro was founded in 1962 and has been listed on the AEX-Stock Exchange in Amsterdam since 1992. What Fugro collects, processes and interprets data related to the surface and subsurface of the earth and the sea bed and of the man-made structures built upon it. The data is collected at sea, along the coast, on land and from the air. In addition Fugro provides supplementary specialist services. How The group uses sophisticated equipment, much of which was developed in-house, and software systems to suport its data collection and data-processing activities. These ensure that clients receive reliable and integrated reports promptly. As an extension to its core activities the group also provides services such as design advice, geographic and other information systems, materials’ testing and positioning. Organisation The operations are divided into: Geotechnical services Surveying services Geotechnical services include, amongst others, the sampling and testing of soils and the provision of advice based on the results. Surveying activities include, amongst others, the determination of the geology, the recording of the surface of the earth and positioning. Structure Fugro N.V. is the holding company for a large number of operating companies located all over the world and carrying out a variety of activities. To promote the efficiency of its operating companies the group’s organisational structure is highly decentralised. The holding company’s activities are carried out by a limited number of people. The operating companies enjoy large degrees of independence as much of the executive authority and responsibility is delegated to their managers. Objectives and Stategy Fugro strives for: a net profit margin averaging 6-6.5% of turnover management of business risks through geographical spread and range of activities. To this end, Fugro is steadily expanding its existing market positions. At the same time, the group is seizing opportunities to penetrate new adjacent niche markets or new regional markets, generally through acquisitions. |
