Realized projects in the areas of both private dwellings and commercial structures

The architectural office of Roeleveld-Sikkes was opened in 1977. It is located in a distinctive villa at the corner of the Alexanderstraat and the Mauritskade in The Hague. In the recent years, it has realized projects in the areas of both private dwellings and commercial structures. Our work covers an area ranging from interior design to the restauration of monuments. From the beginning, all projects address two important things: local context and program specifics. Because of this approach, we are regularly commissioned for projects on the boarder of building design and urban design. Complexity is another charastic of our approach, complexity of programmatic and urban interests but also procedures, laws and rules and participation of local people. One note worthy example is the project Vrouwenkerkplein in Leiden, the building of a large- scaled retail store in a small-scaled historic context. Another example is the Jeroen-complex in Den Haag, a commission from the city council. In this elderly housing complex, one finds a library, a church, a service-centre, and a daycare center.
