Anyone who has been following us on Meta and Musk’s platforms may have noticed that we haven’t posted anything there for a while. After much thought, we’ve decided that, going forward, we’ll only maintain a business presence on social networks that feel like they belong to the users, not to two all-powerful players far away.
We’d love to see you on either platform. Leave a nice comment, ask a thought-provoking question, or just say hi. We’ll read everything sooner or later.
Bluesky does pass our test of what’s responsible. It’s still a smaller network right now (“only” 40 million users), but it’s a place where real people talk to each other (and to businesses), where you have a say in how it’s moderated, and where you can actually see what’s going on behind the scenes (open source). We post updates about our products there and enjoy reading the comments.
Mastodon belongs to all of us in so many more ways. It’s a decentralized network, it’s open source, and it truly belongs to no one. You choose your own server, just like when you create your Bluebeam ID, or you set one up yourself, as ICTU did for the Dutch government with social.overheid.nl. If you’re a large company, set up a Mastodon server for your employees.
We’re on mastodon.nl, a Dutch server. Feel free to choose a different server to follow us, because all servers are independent, but they can still see each other. That’s the concept behind Mastodon.
- Go to mastodon.nl and log in (or create a free account if you don’t have one yet).
- If you work for the government or a large company, you may want to log in to your own server.
- Search for @ideoma@mastodon.nl (always works) or @ideoma if you’re on the same server. Or click on our profile link below.
- Click “Follow” and that’s it!
