^8/21/26 Bluebeam no longer offers a license type based on the number of concurrent users. Until 2022, that was the much more expensive “open” license.

Everything is just personal now. In this situation, we recommend sharing license management with many more people so they can access each other’s licenses whenever they need them.

Example scenario: Two colleagues, Jan and Marie, know what each other is doing. They are both license administrators (Org Admins), but only Jan has a license. Marie knows that Jan doesn’t need it today, so she goes to bluebeam.nl >, logs in > as Org Admin, removes the license from Jan, assigns it to herself, and gets to work. A day later, Jan needs Bluebeam again and does the opposite, because he knows Marie doesn’t need the license. This kind of arrangement works well for a small team.

Another scenario is one in which the planner is responsible for revoking and issuing licenses associated with certain tasks.

If you find yourself switching licenses too often, just tell IDEOMA: “Add one more, please.” In principle, that can be taken care of in a day.

^12/8/26 If you have multiple software licenses for an entire team, it’s always a good idea to keep track of whether they’re being used. At Bluebeam, that’s the job of the Org Admins. They can see the last date a user opened Bluebeam. You can use that date to revoke a user’s license if the date is very old.

However, it’s much better if the Org Admin first asks why the license isn’t being used. It’s actually very common for people to use the software incorrectly because they don’t know what it can do. Keep explaining to your colleagues how useful Bluebeam is for technical drawings in PDF format!

Be sure to let your colleagues know about Bluebeam University, which is included with their license.

^{1/13/26 Just} before the end of the year, the second interim update for GstarCAD 2026, called SP2 (Service Pack 2), was released. You can download and install it for free if you have a license for version 2026. It includes several resolved software bugs.

In GstarCAD itself, you can check which version you have by going to Help > > > About. If you see BUILD 251226 (or a higher number), you’re all set. If not, it’s a good idea to download the latest version. If you’re not experiencing any problems with your current version, there’s generally no need to do anything. After all, if it works, leave it as is.

^7/1/26 Did you know that measuring to scale in a PDF works really well in GstarCAD, too? It’s a little more difficult than with Bluebeam, but not for anyone who’s already learned to use AutoCAD. When you open GstarCAD, you’ll immediately see a row of buttons; you’ll need the “PDF Underlay” button to place a page from a PDF file at the origin of your drawing. If you’d like to know more, please feel free to contact us.

An added benefit of this method is that you can also overlay or underlay a DWG or DWF (both from AutoCAD) or a DGN (from MicroStation).

Yes, there are other options besides Bluebeam when it comes to measuring in PDFs. Another advantage: you only need to purchase the GstarCAD license once. After that, there are no annual fees, so it ends up being more cost-effective starting in the third year.

^12/3/25 The interim update for GstarCAD 2026, called SP1 (Service Pack 1), has been available since early November. The manufacturer reports the following:

1. 1. Speed Improvements
      • Moving, mirroring, rotating, and copying objects in complex 3D models has improved by more than 100%, and undo and redo operations are up to 5 times faster.
      • LISP Optimization: SSGET is 5 times faster.
      • Sorting layers and lists is twice as fast.
      • Optimizing the command line: Drawing lines by pasting large sets of coordinates is more than 15 times faster.
      • Hatching is 4 to 5 times faster when calculating large hatching areas.
   2. New and Improved Features
      • Automatic input method switching: automatically switches between English input for commands and the current input language for text entry, eliminating the need to manually switch input methods.
      • Smart copy and paste between applications (COPYCLIP): intelligent cropping and customizable paste settings (range, color, formatting). Supports DWG, WMF, and raster formats.
      • User interface improvements: tabs for hatching and an improved image editor.
      • New tools for centerline and center point, CENTERLINE and CENTERMARK, with customizable system variables for size, spacing, and layer management. They are currently disabled by default, but can be enabled in the App Manager in GstarCAD2026 SP1. They are also compatible with AutoCAD.

Download the latest version from our download page. Downloading from the GstarCAD website still appears to fail if you log in from within the EU. We are working on this.
